Sandy is a member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), Virginia Professional Photographers of America (VPPA), VPPA Top 10 Photographer of the Year 2024, and Court of Honor award recipient for “Portrait of a Woman.”

This is a highly personal, emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual time. I am sensitive to your desire to conduct this session with your story or end message in mind.

Maybe you are still figuring out what you want, but you know you want to commemorate this baby and this time of life. If you’re struggling with exactly how to do that, I’ll listen. Together, we’ll figure it out and the session won’t start until you’re ready.

As part of my maternity sessions, I offer more than 30 beautiful, flowing gowns and a wide variety of made-for-maternity bodysuits, all complete with custom, coordinated jewelry. No matter what you need, I can help you overcome any wardrobe snares!

Things to Consider

  • Where and how you will display these beautiful images. Will it be on a feature wall, desk, album, above your bed, in a humid area such as above a jetted bathtub or sunroom?
  • What is the color scheme/decor of the room?
  • What photographic style do you want (romantic, fun, sunset)?
  • Do you want to include siblings, your spouse or partner in additional poses?
  • Do you want to include any props like a sonogram photo or your baby’s name in blocks?
  • What type of setting do you have in mind, i.e. studio, outside, a special location?

“I don’t know who you will be, but I know you will be my everything!”

Some additional advice

  • Your hands will play a large part in your photoshoot.  Make sure you and your partner’s fingernails (and toenails if feet will be showing) are neat and clean! Getting a professional manicure is highly recommended. Please note, nail chips and cuticles can be fixed in post-production, but there is a $5/per photo nail-fix charge.
  • You may want to have your hair and makeup done by a professional on the day of your shoot. I will be happy to recommend a hair and make up professional, if necessary.
  • Wear comfortable shoes.
  • Think about the jewelry you want to wear.  I have a selection of necklaces and jewelry as well as floral head pieces.
  • Your photo session should be scheduled between 32-36 weeks.
  • All contracts must be signed and retainer fees paid when scheduling your appointment to secure the date of your session*.
